Roudwan has worked on both sides of the same counter. First advising new arrivals, then OISC immigration advisory work, where someone’s status turned on reading the guidance correctly. Now on the administering side: property and asset management in UK housing, planned works, compliance and statutory consultation.

The vocabulary changed completely. The situation did not. Someone is bound by a rule they did not write and cannot easily read. Not the rules, which are usually fine, but the distance between a rule and the person it lands on. That is roughly what he is for.

Born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Sudan, settled in the UK. Three working theories about what institutions owe people and how much of the answer is written down. He works in Arabic and English, and has spent most of the last eight years with humanitarian and community organisations in free time.
